Fiery cuisine from different regions of the country we should all patronize. The newest hole in the wall at UP Town Center is Alab Restaurant by Cherry Pie Picache. Tita Jack we all loved in On The Wings Of Love brought us all in her 2nd branch of AlabPH, a truly Pinoy restaurant featuring dishes from all over the country. From the Moderne Group of Restos is Alab which opened its flagship branch in Tomas Morato QC and soon to open in Venice Piazza Mckinley Branch in BGC Taguig, part owner and Marketing Director Cherry Pie Picache and Joel Fernando of JB Music and JB Sports and Christine del Castillo of Moderne Culinaire Academy introduced to the media the different dishes across the regions. Present to grace the opening aside from the owners were Albie Casino, Direk Dan Villegas and Direk Tonet Jadaone aside from Ysabel Ortega, Joel Saracho, Paeng Sundayan and Cheska Inigo.
From appetizers of canapes with Arla Dairy cheeses to viands of Okoy, Kinilaw na Tanigue, Crispy Pata, Kare Kare, Tinumok to Pianggang, the feast of the eyes and the palate were all delicious. Pianggang, a Tausug cuisine from Mindanao was Cherry Pie's favorite. Grilled tender chicken pieces with spices and veggies blanched and drizzled in a gooey special veggie sauce punctuated each bite. It felt like a trip down south and all those Mindanao cuisine favorites came flashing before my eyes at every bite. I loved its texture and taste in my tongue and I will definitely come for more of this at Alab. Dessert came from their bestseller Cheesecake Bibingka, Kamote Ice Cream and Pichi Pichi which were absolutely unforgettable. Oh that Cheesecake Bibingka is one to fit the "to die for" bill. It was truly a melt-in-your-mouth, one that will leave you bliss type of good food, really. The rave about Alab was true on its distinct and surprising delectable dishes.
