#KakaibaKaBa? On its eleventh year, Cinema One Originals continue to showcase a breed of talents producing the most unique, diverse and adventurous masterpieces contributing to the Pinoy brand of filmmaking. Nine originals featured in 2015 C1Originals were introduced to the media yesterday at 9501 Restaurant, ABS-CBN. First was Joel Ferrer's cross-generational screwball romcom "Baka Siguro Yata" with Valerie "Bangs" Garcia, Dino Pastrana, Ricky Davao and Cherie Gil. Sheron Dayoc's religious horror gothic "Bukod Kang Pinagpala" was represented by stars Bing Pimentel and daughter Maxie Eigenmann with Paulo Paraiso plus the supporting cast.
Ivan Andrew Payawal's comedy "The Comeback" features Kaye Abad and Sari Dahlena's "Dahling Nick" celebrates the life and works of the national artist Nick Joaquin with Raymond Bagatsing as the title role. Bor Ocampo's "Dayung Asu" is film about the mayor and the culture of eating dogs featuring Ricky Davao and Junjun Quintana. Ralston Jover's "Hamog" blends neo-realism and magic realism of street children starring Zaijan Jaranilla and Teri Malvar. Carl Joseph Papa's fully-animated "Manang Biring" is the touching story of a terminal patient and her estranged daughter starring Erlinda Villalobos.
Raymond Red's "Mga Rebeldeng Walang Kaso" is a lookback at the early days of the first wave of Philippine independent cinema with Felix Roco, Epi Quizon, Earl Ignacio and Nicco Manala. Finally, Ara Chawdhury's "Miss Bulalacao" introduces performance artist Russ Ligtas in a comedy about a young drag queen whose life is changed by a strange encounter. On Nov8, Cinema One will present a special screening of Sherad Sanchez's "Salvage" and Erik Matti's "Honor Thy Father" at Trinoma Mall. Filipino classics will be highlighted also by ABS-CBN Restoration's "Ikaw Ay Akin"by Ishmael Bernal, "Insiang" by Lino Brocka and "Karnal" by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. There will be more surprises on the opening ceremonies Nov8 at Trinoma Mall and the festival on Nov 9-17,2015 at Trinoma, Glorietta, Resorts World and SM Megamall.
