Event: #KasiMaARTeKaBeh #Calamba #Laguna's Arts and Culture

Art takes many forms and for some who's stuck with just the performing arts, Calamba, Laguna has more to offer, especially Studio 56. I joined fellow blogger friends and media attending Direk Maryo J. Delos Reyes' "Kasi MaARTe Ka Beh", an art celebration in line with the National Arts Month 2015 by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in cooperation with Pansol Tourism Council, City Government of Laguna - Culture Affairs, Tourism and Sports Development office with dignified guests, artists, actresses, actors, singers. It was hard to forget watching the talents of Production 56 and special guests Filipino culture icon Cecile Guidote Alvarez, artworks at Studio 56 like the Graffiti Art by Pilipinas Street Plan, sculptures of Willy Layug and actor/artist Leandro Baldemor, embroidery by Ms. Aileen Del Moral, display of "Takas" of Paete (paper mache products), three indie film winners from "Buhayani" Film Festival and musical performances by Ana Capri, Laarni Lozada, Rita De Guzman, the Masculados and talents of Production 56.
Direk Maryo J. Delos Reyes shared how he met the talents and the artists. Art in many forms stimulates the well-being of anyone and it is indeed a grand display of art. There were sculptures and paintings in the afternoon highlighted by the iced carving exhibit of Leandro Baldemor. I've seen him featured in a TV show displaying his sculpting skills and it was my first time seeing it live. My jaws dropped at the sight of the paper mache products and salivated at the local Laguna delicacies sold at the event. Pastillas, Buko Pie, Buko Cassava Tart, Balut, Red Salted Eggs and other local Filipino sweets were difficult to resist.
It was also my first time meeting the culture icon, the founder of Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), Cecile Guidote Alvarez. Starstruck still with my high school crush Lloyd Samartino, Manila Councilor (actor) Yul Servo and Ana Capri who even sung some of my favorite songs during the event. A fashion show featuring summer wear was also held by the Tycoon Models.
Ms. Rita de Guzman, actress/singer from GMA Network also graced the occasion along with the hunks of Production 56 - the Masculados.
It was a long program but each moment was a feast of the senses. ABS-CBN's Pinoy Dream Academy Winner Season 2 Laarni Lozada also performed and direk Maryo J shared her album dubbed, "Faith" produced by priests in Laguna.
The Masculados sung some of the classics and popular favorites that made the last part of the show really exciting. Studio 56 is an ideal getaway venue for the artsy-fartsy and those who simply want to enjoy a special weekend for the family. They're also open for rentals and corporate/special occasions.
