Xian Lim impressed the creators of UK's most loved iconic bear, "Paddington". David Heyman , the producer of Paddington and the famous "Harry Potter" movie was deceived thinking Xian Lim's voice was that of the original voice of Paddington- Ben Whihshaw. This according to the leading distributor of international films, Captive Cinema Distribution Inc. shared to the press today at Plaza Ibarra, Quezon City how Xian will open doors for more celebrities in international movies in the future.
Captive Cinema Distribution Inc's Marketing Manager Maver Mayuga shared to us how Xian was impressive dubbing the iconic bear's movie which recently bagged numerous awards in UK and explained why there was a need for a local voice was required by Heyday Films and Studio Canal. The film needed a local celebrity who is young and impeccable with impressive personality. The story of Paddington was first told in a series of books by Micheal Bond in 1958 and since then the bear became easily recognized because of his trademark blue raincoat and red hat. The marmalade-loving bear is originally from Darkest Peru and is raised by bear relatives, Aunt Lucy (voiced by Imelda Staunton who played Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter) and Uncle Pastuzo (voiced by Michael Gambon who played Albus Dumbledore also in Harry Potter).
This family fun movie stars Millicent, the villain taxidermist played by the Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman. Xian shared that he dubbed the whole film as Paddington only for two days although he alloted a whole week to prepare and review dubbing to make every word perfect sounding for Mr. Heyman. I've become more curious how Xian will sound as a bear and how it is different from the original voice. Before the press conference ended, Captive Cinema awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Xian Lim for his outstanding performance as the voice of Paddington signed by Maver Mayuga and Captive Cinema's CEO Paul Poste. Xian is breaking new grounds for the Filipino celebrities with this new venture as the voice of the iconic bear from UK "Paddington" and my family is already excited to watch starting February 11, 2015 at all cinemas nationwide. A new laurel up his sleeves, Xian Lim continues to surprise us all. Thank you Star Magic Philippines, Captive Cinema Distribution Inc. and sponsors Gibi, Avon Philippines, Mint!
