The Pacman is still the greatest boxer of the century. After 6 knockdowns, Chris Algieri wasn't able to recover from the wrath of Manny Pacman's power in the ring winning the World Welterweight title by unanimous decision today at Cotai Arena, Macau. Judges at ringside scored the bout 119-103, 119-103 and 120-102 for Pacquiao. I watched the live streaming at Bubba Gump Restaurant, Makati together with fellow bloggers sponsored by Alaxan FR earlier today witnessing how our country's pride bruised the beautiful face of the undefeated boxer from New York. After lots of undercards and lots of helpings of Pasta, Fish Fillet, Crispy Fried Chicken at the buffet table in Bubba Gump, the game finally started with World Choir singing the Philippine National Anthem.
It was unforgettable seeing Sylvester Stallone (Rambo/Rocky) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator) visit Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri before the bout. Mommy D was also a consistent scene-stealer with her usual prayers and chants at the ringside. The first three rounds showed how Manny was dominating until Round 4 which made Algieri fall for the first time. The following rounds got more exciting with more Algieri knockdowns setting the whole crowd of Bubba Gump standing and cheering. Although we were not heard, it was an unforgettable feeling to join and be one of the boys shouting cheers for Pacman. Manny Pacquiao had always been the reason the country united for a moment and this time it proved again that Filipinos can truly develop genuine nationalism. It was priceless to see the women paused in silence and prayed during the game. I really hoped the same attitude we exude during Manny Pacquiao's fight will be shown during monumental events in politics and other occasions where it's most needed.
Pacman is still #PusongPalaban with his #KatawangAlaxan. In the beginning, I was scared that his reach is shorter against Algieri and his height was a few inches shorter. I guess the height and reach does not matter for a Pacman who had defeated an undefeated post-graduate degree holder from New York. It was an unforgettable match today and again I would like to thank Manny Pacquiao for bringing the Filipinos together and united once again.
