Kimberly Jane Solejon and Mercedita Madrona could not believe they will win last Saturday's The Next Cusina Idol Cook-Off Challenge. Hosted by Ms. Issa Litton, The Next Cusina Idol Cook-Off Challenge presented by Melawares and Global Culinary and Hospitality Academy in Pasig City featured participant contestants from the Cooking Enthusiasts and Culinary Students of GCHA. The two category contestants along with the finalists were asked to bring their own ingredients for the cook-off including the use of Melawares, Perfect Dining, Bestware and Urban Kitchen products during the cooking and final plating.
The Culinary Students Division final round contestants were asked to make an original dish using Chicken and the Cooking Enthusiasts Division final round contestants were asked to use Fish. Both division contestants were scored on the cleanliness and preparation, plating and presentation and taste to vie for the title The Next Cusina Idol Cook-Off Challenge Champion. I was able to witness how the contestants carefully prepared the ingredients, cooked and plated their wonderful dishes using Melawares. Kimberly Jane Solejon (Culinary Students Division) and Mercedita Madrona (Cooking Enthusiasts Division) bagged the title and brought home Php250,000 worth of kitchen showcase from Melawares, Perfect Dining, Bestware or Urban Kitchen and will be featured in select major publications. Meanwhile the other finalists will receive Php25,000 worth of kitchen showcase and will also be featured in major publications. CDC Manufacturing Corporation, makers of Melawares, the classic brand that carries high-quality melamine tableware products, Bestware, the affordable line of tableware products, Urban Kitchen, the company's modern brand that carries food service products outside of melamine tableware and Perfect Dining, the company's exclusive brand for the SM chain that carries high-end melamine continues to encourage the cooks at home to best present their dishes in style and durability with Cusina Idol Cook-Off Challenge.
During the cook-off I've wanted to try my own skills in creating fish and chicken dishes and I've appreciated the significance of using perfect tableware to better present the dishes. Melawares had been my trusted brand in preparing dishes for Christmas because it's affordable and it's really durable. The event taught me how to experiment using chicken and fish inspired by ClaraOle and Lee Kum Kee sauces and it definitely gave me ideas how to use my Melawares set for Christmas Eve. Thank you Melawares for giving me inspiration to prepare for Christmas Eve Feast.
