We'll never look at dolls the same way again. Award-winning director Wenn Deramas famous for his comedy flicks celebrated his birthday with the bloggers sharing his first horror film "Maria Leonora Teresa" last Tuesday at the Star Cinema office. Part of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary celebration, Maria Leonora Teresa stars Iza Calzado, Jodi Sta. Maria and Zanjoe Marudo in a story about three mothers coping for the loss of their daughters who died in a field trip.
Cris Villanueva plays the psychiatrist who will offer dolls to the three grieving mothers according to Direk Wenn. Using no robotics and computer graphics as special effects, Direk Wenn shared to us how it was a foray of emotions working with 9 children who played the kids and the dolls in the said movie. It was Direk's memories of how his mom and family loved everything about the superstar Nora Aunor and it wasn't intentional that he named the dolls after the famous icon of the Guy-Pip loveteam in the 70s.
He waited for a long time until the network finally decided to start the film which he conceptualized last year. I was excited at the dolls just as I was excited watching the movie Maria Leonora Teresa which will open on September 17, 2014 at all cinemas nationwide. I'm looking forward to understanding the different characters of the daughters in the film and that special role of Zanjoe which will bat eyelashes of my gay friends in the movie theaters. Let's not miss this exciting truly Pinoy horror film by Direk Wenn Deramas. Watch Maria Leonora Teresa starting September 17!
