Event: Reviving Filipino novelty music at #HannahNolasco's #Peksman album launch #Hannah16

Novelty songs bring families together around the globe. I remembered my own father and how I missed his efforts on helping me watching Hannah Nolasco and her father onstage at Hannah's 16th birthday at the Hard Rock Cafe Makati last Sunday. It's indeed time to revive novelty songs with Hannah Nolasco's debut album featuring the carrier single, "Peksman". Hannah is the daughter of Ret.Col. Ricardo L. Nolasco Jr. PAF who owns Hannah's Beach Resort in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. The grand 16th birthday celebration was also the launch of her debut album attended by celebrities and family with Bryan Termulo as the special guest.
The event also featured German Moreno and Walang Tulugan's Jake Vargas who also sung a few songs for Hannah. The dream of finally launching an album came true for Hannah whose influences include Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo, Lea Salonga, Ariana Grande, One Direction, Vanessa Hudgens, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce and more. The album, "Hannah Nolasco - The Rising Star"album includes twelve (12) original tracks all written by the certified hitmaker Boy Christopher Ramos Jr. narrating the girl's coming of age experiences. I loved the "Peksman" upbeat dance tune which will soon be one of popular soundtracks relating to teen love and romance in radio programs. "Inlab", a bubblegum ballad will also be one relatable teen crush song the kids today will love to play.
Hannah sung also "Dito Lang Ako" narrating a young girl offering a shoulder to cry on to her loved one, to many will refer to as "friendzoned" yet implying unconditional love. It was fun watching Hannah perform live "Tinamaan Ako", "Havey at Waley" and I-Like Mo Naman Ako". After the duet with Bryan Termulo singing "Way Back Into Love", Hannah finally sung "Thank You Lord" which brought all of us to tears. It was her version of "Dance With My Father" which made Ret.Col. Nolasco come up onstage to witness his daughter's repertoire.
That was the moment that took my breath away. In the middle of reflecting how novelty music had gone down the drain with the age of social media and more teens tuned to foreign artists, I was swept with the love of the father to his daughter watching Col. Nolasco and Hannah onstage. The songs that speak of the youth's interests these days in Hannah Nolasco- The Rising Star album taught me to appreciate what we have all been missing these days - the reverence to a deeper father and daughter love relationship. I wished my father was the same when he was still alive.
I watched in envy remembering how I celebrated my own 16th birthday and remembered the songs that once I treasured watching Hannah Nolasco on stage at Hard Rock Cafe Makati that day. You need to listen carefully, feel the melody and hear the words that cry out of each song and reflect. What have we been missing from the voice of the youth today?
