Event: Manny Pacquiao wins by unanimous decision-- 118-110, 116-112, 116-112 #PacquiaoVSBradley2 #PusongPalaban #KatawangAlaxan
Today marks another historical moment for the Philippines. It's my birthday and Manny Pacquiao won by unanimous decision WBO Welterweight title against Timothy Bradley we have all witnessed at the PPV live viewing at Outback Steakhouse Restaurant in Glorietta 4, Makati sponsored by Unilab Philippines' Alaxan FR Pusong Palaban Katawang Alaxan. It's also Palm Sunday and I had the most memorable visit at St. Pio Chapel to thank the Lord for all the blessings in our family. Manny Pacquiao did not fail to say his prayer before the fight and it probably became the most inspiring moment for Pinoys to hang on to their faith. Life seemed to have paused just like most of Manny Pacquiao's fights but this bout is so important as it will vindicate the power of our "Pambansang Kamao".
After three undercards, the introduction of the Main Event was just heartwarming showing the boxing legends. It seemed to have regarded the significance of both boxers in marking history again for Top Rank Promotions. Then came the boos Tim Bradley we have all witnessed seeing most of the audience from the Philippines. The entrance of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was so upbeat and happy with Katy Perry's "Roar" in the background. After the singing of the national anthem (Jessica Sanchez for the Philippines and Ashanti for the American National Anthem) Michael Buffer shouted his memorable "let's get ready to rumble" chant and all the people in Outback just like Las Vegas went wild with cheers.
Being a mom, it was actually difficult watching Manny receiving punches from Bradley but right after Round 7, everyone gained more confidence noticing Bradley on the defense. Tim Bradley had prepared well for this match. I guess his confidence of trying to get Manny throw more punches did not work for him because Manny was able to get his defenses back towards the end. What most netizens tweeted was Mommy Dionisia (Pacman's mom) stealing the spotlight with her simple yet funny stage mom acts.
If many said that it was a curse seeing Mommy D's getting to the stage and hugging Bradley even if her false teeth seemed to come off, it's still so adorable relating to the scene because I've also cried buckets when my son graduated yesterday from college. Mommy D has the biggest and purest heart and everyone will agree that she is still the symbol of the Filipino mom - caring and thoughtful. The criticism on the money and the politicians involved in the scene isn't as grand as the significance of the moment in our Philippine culture. Manny Pacquiao is one symbol of unity we should always respect. Thank you Manny for uniting the Filipinos once again and for making us all proud! The Filipino is indeed "Pusong Palaban" because we have "Katawang Alaxan"! I will always teach in the public school because just like you Manny, I love the Philippines and I will always serve the Filipino! Special thanks to Unilab Philippines, Outback Steakhouse Restaurant and Alaxan FR for the birthday greetings and for this inspiring birthday live viewing! Congratulations to the Filipino!
