The only place where kids can think, play and work like an adult is now here in the Philippines. Kidzania Manila, the country's first edutainment facility opening in Bonifacio Global City next year was the featured panelist at Bulong Pulungan media forum at Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City yesterday. With child education expert and professor, Dr. Maricar Gustilo de Ocampo, President and CEO of Play Innovations Inc., Maricel Pangilinan-Arenas the local franchise owner of Kidzania Manila, the media was introduced to CNN's Top 10 Best Franchisees for Travelers list, first-of-its-kind indoor hyper-real play city-- Kidzania Manila.
Upon learning that it's going to be one heavenly place for kids who love to play and moms can leave their children for 3-5 hours, I've reflected on my own dream when I was young to be a chef. There was no place like this back then. While sharing make-believe stories to the media participants I've also thought about the schools which may soon be obsolete on teaching structures after each child experiences the power and the magic of play honing their creativity skills at Kidzania Manila. The play mode on every time they visit Kidzania Manila should spark creativity beyond imagination which they'll most probably share and flaunt with classmates when they go back to school. Then I've also reflected on an article I've read about kids in India and how play and story-telling had transformed their children to be the most intelligent people all over the world.
Parents will definitely be surprised at their children's achievements at Kidzania Manila. Since Kidzania will provide a kid-sized city with over 100 role-playing activities in the different establishments found in a real community, Pinoy kids will learn to be more certain about the career paths they'd choose especially now that DepEd had implemented the K-12 program in schools. I thought about my students who will no longer be consulting me of what course to take after high school because they'll soon experience what work and play they'll enjoy best after experiencing the world of Kidzania Manila. Today at the Bulong-Pulongan media forum with Kidzania Manila, I was reminded of what I was taught in college about the importance of play in learning, the importance of make-believe stories because every child has a story to tell and the importance of teaching children environment awareness because Kidzania Manila will incorporate green living communities in their establishments. The children will be taught well about significant subjects thru play in the city of Kidzania. They'll learn the concept of earning money with Kidzos (the currency of Kidzania Manila), creativity, independence, self-esteem, financial literacy, teamwork and other valuable life skills. From Mexico where it started in 1997 to more than 15 locations in 12 countries all over the world, Kidzania , the country's first edutainment facility is now here in Manila.
