The first comedy bar I've known in college expanded reach opening its newest branch in Metrowalk Ortigas. Director and proprietor Andrew De Real was first who pioneered the art of stand-up comedy in The Library Malate, Manila. Since my last visit at Malate, their newest branch in Metrowalk Ortigas last Friday boasts of its original ambiance with shelves full of real books and menu filled with array of delectable pica-picas and meals to fill the hungry customer. The historic entertainment bar which once was home of the icons of Pinoy comedy now known as Ai Ai Delas Alas, Vice Ganda, Allan K, Pooh and more thought of bringing the fun to most of its patrons in Ortigas area.
Like how I've remembered their type of comedy where artists need not use so much bad words to make people laugh, the opening of The Library in Metrowalk Ortigas was an unforgettable series of reminiscing how The Library once known for - acts and performances of witty struggling and talented talents. From the hilarious gays wearing elaborate and colorful gowns to performances that'll get your attention before you nibble on their tasty and delicious appetizers to surprise guests from the showbiz industry supporting Mamu Andrew De Real. It's the Pinoy culture of comedy bars once was pioneered by the Godfather who tries to support the talented comedy newbies now given more opportunity through this haven of fun. According to special guest and popular actress Pokwang, The Library will always be one memorable place providing opportunities to Filipino talents. Pokwang was the first interviewed on how comedy bars have evolved from The Library of Andrew De Real in Malate.
She also reminisced how her true story was shot in The Library and how important is this haven of fun in her life. Those who joined the fun from yesteryears were Sweet John Lapus, Philip Lazaro, Candy Pangilinan, Arnel Ignacio, Rey Pumaloy, Pilar Mateo and several popular singers from different TV networks. Ronnie Liang, Sheng Belmonte, Mark Mabasa and more artists performed to support the Mother of Comedy Bars in the Philippines now in Metrowalk Ortigas. With their menu in chapters giving you wide choices to fill your tummy while you grasp for breath in between laughter, The Library Metrowalk Ortigas will soon be a hole in the wall in the area in search of stress-free, fun and filling comedy bar sure to leave you wits and wisdom to face every anxiety with hope and optimism. Congratulations to The Library Metrowalk Ortigas! Don't miss their new group acts like the FHM-Fat Hot Mommas, The Gwadings and more.
