Mario Maurer made me ROFL. I have no idea that Mario Maurer will make me cry and laugh so hard at GTH's PeeMak Advanced Screening last Saturday at Trinoma Mall. Distributed by Star Cinema in the Philippines, Thailand's highest grossing horror film which my friend said was supposed to be an old legend, PeeMak directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun stars international hearthrob Mario Maurer with Davika Hoorne, Nuttapong Chartpong, Pongsatorn Jongwilas, Attharut Kongrasri, Kantapat Permpoonpatcharasuk. Mario Maurer we have all loved with Erich Gonzales in Star Cinema's Suddenly It's Magic, PeeMak will let you laugh from beginning to end. I was surprised that even without the subtitles, the movie made me roll over the floor laughing at the effective facial expressions to give the scare and laugh at the same time following the scenes that simply rolled on the story that Mak (Mario Maurer) will discover that his wife Nak (Davika Hoorne) is a ghost.
I loved the use of lights and facial expressions that led to every scene flawlessly scary and funny at the same time from beginning to end. Mario Maurer delivers a different type of character compared to how he was constantly a debonair leading man in all of his films. During the bloggers conference before the screening, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to ask what particular scene was difficult in making PeeMak. He mentioned that acting scary scenes proved easier than the last scene which is heavy drama. As I've carefully watched the end scenes, I've noticed how I've locked my eyes on his nose dripping tears and how I've also shed a lot of tears on his lines expressing how he completely knew from the beginning that his wife was a ghost.
Although this movie was a spin-off from the well-known Thai movie NangNak, PeeMak succeeded at making every scene worth the fun and entertainment. If Filipino horror-comedy movies were to compare, PeeMak will stand out to be original. This is a movie worth every penny and I would suggest you watch it with the whole family. It's clean, it's funny and it's heartwarming. The unconditional love will also let you reflect if you can love like PeeMak in real life. Don't miss watching PeeMak at all cinemas nationwide starting August 28, 2013! For more information, visit www.starcinema.com.ph and follow @StarCinema on Twitter and Instagram.
