Event: Josiah Theodore Cacayan from UPD wins in Asean Disciples Escoffier Young Talent Trophy 2013 Philippines

Josiah Theodore Cacayan from UPDiliman did not expect he'd represent the Philippines after cooking lamb chops with herbs and more surprises at the Asean Disciples Escoffier Young Talent Trophy in the Philippines held last Saturday at Savoy Bistro Restaurant in Makati. From the selected invited culinary arts enthusiasts from different schools invited by the Escoffier Philippines President Chef John Philip Golding Josiah's dish got the votes of the members of Escoffier Philippines to represent the country in Asean Disciples Escoffier Young Talent Trophy set to compete with other countries in Asia in Hongkong Restaurant and Bar Show on Sept. 3-5, 2013. 
According to Mister Thierry Muller, President of Les Amis d'Escoffier, the purpose of the competition is to keep the fine cuisine alive and appreciated around the world with goals; to enhance the art of fine dining by supporting culinary education through scholarships for kitchen professionals and food services professionals; to support food service professionals pursuing their careers in the hospitality industry; to honor select members and industry leaders for their continued support to the Culinary Arts and to honor select non-professionals for their support to charity organizations and actions in the spirit of Auguste Escoffier, Les Amis d'Escoffier. It was Chef Philip John Golding who introduced me to this prestigious event. Realizing how significant this will be for aspiring chefs and culinary arts enthusiasts will boost skills of the Filipino, I did not hesitate to cover and share the good news to all.  
Since Disciples Escoffier Philippines was launched in July 10, 2010, the Philippine Delegation had continually promoted French cooking methods with the Filipino chefs and skills gracing the Philippine culinary scene. The officers of Disciples Escoffier Philippines include Chef Philip Golding, Director for Golding Culinary Group, President; Chef Robert Bolanos, Executive Chef Trainer for Holland America Line;Vice Members Jacob Divino, Managing Director of Source Asia Business, Inc.,Trixie Gatbonton Beverage Business Unit Head of the Source Asia Business Group and Chef Bernie Rius, Executive Chef of Holland America Line and the first executive chef member from the cruise line industry. To those not familiar to the name, Escoffier is Georges Auguste Escoffier, the French chef, restaurateur and culinary writer who popularized and updated traditional French cooking methods. His popular contribution in the culinary arts was the Escoffier's technique based on that of Marie-Antoine Careme, one of the codifiers of French haute cuisine but Escoffier's achievement was simplifying and modernizing Careme's elaborate and ornate style. Believing in the Filipino, Chef Philip Golding shared his excitement over the competition slated on September with the Philippine delegate, Josiah Theodore Cacayan who will soon show the world his skills in French cooking techniques.
