Vietnamese treats at student prices! A new hole in the wall is drawing students and professionals as MedChef Chef Hasset Go opens his newest and first Vietnamese resto in Recto, Manila. Xin Chao or "Hello" in Vietnamese greeted us with delightful treats from Vietnam yesterday. Located along CM Recto Avenue across San Sebastian College, the quaint space beside SSL Dormitory Xin Chao boasts of mouth-watering dishes to take you to the gastronomic tour of sorts.
My order was this Spicy Beef Vermicelli Soup (P49) and Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwich (P69). Blogger friends ordered Viet Grilled Chicken with Lemongrass and Rice (P59) and Vietnamese Beef Stew with Rice (P79) which I also snagged a bite or two.
We also had Vietnamese Pancake (P69) and Vietnamese Spring Rolls (P70) along with refreshing Che (Vietnamese Sweet Beverage).
Anyone can dine in Xin Chao with less than a hundred peso budget and what's surprising to notice in their menu was their Viet Hot Pot at P300 (all in). I really enjoyed all the food served. Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwich reminded me of the sandwich I always have at Bona's Chao Long in Puerto Princesa Palawan. The bread is chewy and soft inside and crusty outside with meat and veggies in spicy sauce.
The picky eater will be entertained at the open see-through kitchen. The view of Xin Chao kitchen will remind you of street food in Vietnam, a guarantee of freshness on how your food is made. Chef Hasset Go, popular to us all in MedChef serving delicious pastries and cakes started baking at 17. His love for food and travel inspired him to share the passion to all Pinoys. Now it's all here and Chef Hasset Go made it all so affordable at Xin Chao. I'll definitely be back for some of their delicious Pho at student prices! Yum!
