#TheStrangers seems like Aswang on Christmas. Who would not want to be interested with a handsome Enchong Dee be a monster on Christmas? Quantum Films and MJM Productions distributed by Star Cinema and directed by Lawrence Fajardo present a horror-suspense entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival, The Strangers featuring Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Enrique Gil, Janice De Belen, Cherry Pie Picache, JM De Guzman and Nico Antonio. The grand press conference of The Strangers was held last Sunday at Dolce Latte Cafe and Restaurant Quezon City during the same time Manny Pacquiao lost to Juan Manuel Marquez by knock-out.
Despite the sorrow of the press and the celebrities who attended over Manny's loss that moment, Janice De Belen and Cherry Pie Picache managed to crack a joke saying they are the sexy sirens of the said horror flick slated to be flocked by movie-goers on December 25, 2012. Enchong Dee also mentioned not taking a bath for days just to completely immerse himself to the character in The Strangers. A story on a family of five that tries to put aside their differences on the ever of their kids' 18th birthday, fraternal twins Pat (Julia Montes) and Max (Enrique Gil) prepare to go on their annual out-of-town trip. With parents Roy and Evelyn (Johnny Revilla and Cherry Pie Picache) their grandfather Pete (Jaime Fabregas) and his temporary caretaker (Janice De Belen) with their newly-hired driver Toning (Nico Antonio) embarks on a thrilling adventure in the far-flung town of Murcia.
The movie gets more twisted with Enchong Dee (Dolfo) who will become an ally in one of the village. Quite a mysterious and interesting movie to watch on Christmas day, The Strangers will be the first movie entry to MMFF of the three (Julia, Enrique and Enchong) to compete against the classic Shake Rattle and Roll Sequel with their distinct presentation of horror. Director Lawrence Fajardo was the same director of Posas which won Best Film in the Director's Showcase division of this year's Cinemalaya and again at the Hanoi Film Festival in Vietnam and Amok which grabbed the 11 nominations for this year's Gawad Urian as well as the top prize at the Detective Fest in Moscow last April. Will The Strangers be topping this year's MMFF? I am interested with the details and the conflicts so I will definitely not miss watching it starting Dec. 25, 2012.
