It was a day of gratitude attending the Thank You Global Pinoy Awards night at 7th High, Bonifacio High Street last Friday with the bloggers. In the tradition of gratitude associated with Toblerone and its contribution to revive the art of saying Thank You among Filipinos, Thank You Global Pinoy awardees were unveiled.
Ten Global Pinoys were awarded and recognized led by the Commission on Filipino Overseas, Toblerone Philippines and Kraft Foods. Reynaldo Lachica, a power plant chemist in London who pushes for academic excellence in the country through the Annual Ulirang Kabataan Awards in Paco, Manila; Dennis Laforteza, a head chef for US President Barrack Obama; Francis Padua Papica, a lawyer in San Francisco, who spearheaded a foundation helping young Bicolanos pursue their education were among the few given recognition.
Although family representatives' attended the event and not the particular awardees, the event was highlighted with the recognition of Thank You Global Pinoy website which served as an online venue for Filipinos to thank their nominated Global Pinoy and Special Rewards Passport distributed in Duty Free Philippines and NAIA terminals in Paranaque providing perks and incentives to partner establishments for OFWs like Krispy Kreme, Red Box, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Folded and Hung, David's Salon, Wade, Jelly Bean, Abenson, Maribago Hotel and Spa and Island Cove Hotel and Resorts.
The other awardees were Rainer Nirza Pabuna, a co-founder of Happy Fish Kids; Willy Carpio who spearheaded various projects under Filipino Club-Bahrain, Gawad Kalinga, Knights of Rizal, Legion of Mary, International Toastmasters Club; Wilfredo Garing who repairs vehicles from ordinary to luxury winning in the Auto Denter competition held in Japan; Julie Ann Ting who received the Nightingale Award supporting several NGO nursing homes; William Catanghal, who teaches his kids to be of service; Ryan Tamayo who works in areas with constant threats of danger and bombings; and Levi San Pedro who owns a nursing facility accredited by the Medicare and Medicaid services.
It was such a humbling experience to witness the Global Pinoy Awardee representatives' appreciate the recognition and showing our gratitude to these Global Pinoys may just inspire the others to share what they can give not just for the family but for the whole country. I am grateful everyday for all the good intentions every single day brings. I would also like to show my gratitude to Toblerone for caring enough to glorify the gift of appreciation and gratitude. Saying 'thank you' is such a delightful statement anyone will appreciate. With Toblerone Philippines, the love for candy and chocolates had up the ante on the lives of the Filipino. Thank you Toblerone and thank you to my mom who had continually taught me to be grateful. Thank you to those who said Thank you! Thank you Global Pinoys for making me more proud to be a Filipino.
