Cheap food finds should always be shared. I cannot forget the Halo-Halo and the resto designs at Floring's BGC last Friday with fellow foodies. From the corner of 4th Avenue and 31st St. at BGC it may be difficult to notice the signage but the crowd lining up to get seated at lunch time should give you the signal, it must be Floring's. Since it's soft opening three weeks ago, the community had shared the buzz over the delectable and cheap dishes served at Floring's.
First served was this Pork Sisig with Egg (P165/plain,P185/java) served with rice. You'd definitely notice the crunchy pork chicharon mixed with this heavenly comfort food.
2pcs Pork BBQ (P99/plain rice, P120/java) is served on banana leaves and with atchara side. Blogger friend Jeman of www.orangemagazinetv.com who loves BBQ was so happy with the taste and texture. Floring's Pork BBQ was juicy with such tasty marinade. It's also one of the best-sellers among the dishes in the menu because it's cheap and it's really so delicious.
Lechon Manok (P299/whole,P165/half) was cooked with lemongrass and all the other aromatic herbs deep-fried served with their special lechon sauce. I chose to eat the ass since it contained more of the flavors of the chicken.
Then came the Ensaladang Talong (P55) topped with onions, tomatoes and ginisang bagoong I cannot resist. It's one of my favorite side dishes to go with BBQ and rice and I was truly happy that I was able to get some of all those goodies before it literally disappeared in seconds when it was served.
Chicken BBQ (P99/plain, P120/java) was also served and it was difficult to resist after all the dishes because of its aroma.
Finally, the unforgettable dessert was served. Floring's Halo-Halo (P80) seemed plain and ordinary but wait til you mix the whole thing and spoon some to your mouth. The fine texture of the shaved ice with just the right amount of milk told me it's a perfect dessert but I was so surprised with grated cheese. The ingredients may be ordinary with nata de coco, sago, bananas, beans ube etc but the grated cheese was just perfect to balance the sweetness. I remembered cheese on halo-halo three years ago in Naga City and I have never tasted Halo-Halo with cheese since then. I usually mix it, drink the juice and leave the ingredients but the cheese just made me eat everything and I was so happy. Though guilty, Floring's Halo-Halo will be one of my constant cravings especially now that summer is officially here.
The word about Floring's will definitely be out to all those who love grilled chicken and pork. It's not just a resto that serves cheap UNLI Rice grilled dishes, Floring's will deceive you thinking you're dining in a classy resto and will surprise you more with a wide variety of dishes not served in other popular restaurants in the metro. Floring's is Chef Florabel Co-Yatco's babies aside from her other 12 chains of restos in the metro. The love for UNLIMITED RICE and the fun of mobbing over grilled chicken and pork brought Floring's to life at BGC. Sir Ricky Laudico of SumoSam Foods Inc. influence in Floring's can be seen at it's cozy interior designs and wall paintings which delights the eyes while you smell the aroma of comfort food. Floring's will get more requests for expansion and I can't wait to go back for the dishes I haven't tried, Lechon Liempo, Twice Cooked Adobo, Morcon and Binusog na Pusit soon.
