The blockbuster Angus Kebabs at Banchetto is the Skew-U in Kapitolyo, Pasig. I was excited to visit their store with my college buddy last Friday at Skew-U. The place seemed hard to find located at the East Capitol Drive in Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig but the visit was worth more than the effort and time.
My friend Arpee ordered their famous USDA Angus Tapa with Fragrant Rice (P118/sharing) and although there was no Biriani Rice left, we enjoyed the taste and the texture of the meat that's not too dry and not too salty served on a sizzling hot plate with tomato and cucumber garnish. I came from a dinner event that day and although I was too full already, I couldn't help getting some of their Angus Kebabs (P118/meal) because the meat was so tender and the taste of the Angus beef was not overpowered with the marinade they used for the barbecue.
Skew-U's Chicken Kebab (P108/meal) with onions and peppers was also served with their sweet nutty Satay sauce like all the other grilled dishes in the menu. If the other sizzler restos serve you dishes in styropor and melaware plates, Skew-U's skews and other main dishes are served in dainty white glass plates that made me feel I am not dining in some fastfood. The presentation was remarkably different and distinct compared to those I've tried in Quezon City and the service was really fast. The meat was not completely burned which gave me the luxury of enjoying the juices of the fresh USDA Angus beef and chicken without the skin. Skew-U surprised me also with bell peppers and onions that's too crispy and well-grilled.
It's the skills in grilling and the careful preparation and storing of the meat I believe that gave that perfect grilled meat with exploding sweet and spicy flavors from the veggies and spices. Skew-U gave me one of those savor-the-meat experiences that will keep me coming back for more.
I knew that I will be back for more with sweet endings of Skew-U - Pasta Crepe (P68) and Melaka Tapioca (58). Pasta Crepe is crepe sliced in pasta strips topped with fresh ripe mango cubes and drizzled with sweet mango syrup. It's not too sweet and not too sour so I have forgotten my promise to avoid the sinful experience.
Skew-U's Melaka Tapioca is cubed tiny tapioca pearls glazed in palm sugar and coconut milk. I was warned not to indulge more although it's not too sweet because of the carbo feast of rice and Pasta Crepe I finished.
Good food is good to share and that's another reason why #ItsMoreFuninthePhilippines at Skew-U. I know I'd be back for some of Skew-U's Angus Salpicao again on our next visit and more of their Pasta Crepe that made me fall in love with fresh ripe mangoes in a different light.
With my friends in skewed circumstances and our skewed schedules, we'll definitely be back at Skew-U. I know you will also enjoy these skews and sizzlers at Skew-U so here's more information how to get there.
