What makes Yellow Cab famous is not just that why 9 is afraid of 7 in their delivery number, 789-9999. I've just attended my first Yellow Cab event at Paseo De Roxas, Makati with fellow food bloggers last Friday and I've learned so many things about the pizza I enjoy on holidays.
We were given this Fleet Starters (P465) - crisp hot wings, savory baked potato wedges & crunchy tortilla chips served with tomato salsa & garlic ranch dip, Chicken Alfredo Pasta (P230) - creamy pasta with chicken, black olives and topped with basil chiffonade, Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta (P250)- chicken strips, shiitake mushrooms & roasted peanuts sauteed in a spicy oriental sauce and their famous New York's Finest (P820/18").
The event featured products used in Yellow Cab pizzas and pastas, Fonterra - A leading multinational dairy company, owned by 13000 New Zealand dairy farmers and the world's largest exporter of dairy products like Anlene, Anchor, Anmum, Mainland and Tiptop. Yellow Cab boasts of its natural ingredients truly made fresh to give quality products to its customers.
I've learned that the vegetables are fresh and consumed the day they make each particular pizza and pasta. Mozzarella and parmesan cheeses they use are Natural as compared to most pizza chains using processed (with emulsifiers) as they are commercially manufactured to lessen cost.
The chefs from Fonterra Food Services taught us more. Serving the finest, natural and fresh ingredients will spell health and proper nutrition of its customers and Yellow Cab showed us all how they make pizzas. Here's a peek at their kitchen:
Dough was made fresh and ingredients are kept fresh in cylinders with color-coded symbols for the crew's guide.
This was the counter table preparing the Four Seasons Pizza. I wasn't aware they use cornmeal to make the edges really crispy and orange.
Double coating of parmesan and mozzarella cheeses were put to pizzas to make it flavorful and stringy. The first cheese coating was also mixed with garlic bits to spice the toppings and the generous amount of cheese sets their pizzas apart from all the other pizza chains.
After the tour, we were served with their famous Dear Darla Pizza (P640/18") - roll strips of thin crust pizza with Arugula and Alfalfa sprouts. It was really a unique experience reminding you of the Little Rascals movie and the alfalfa I loved in salads.
We all had a chance to create our own pizza and I gave my own a name I would definitely disclose to the bloggers and friends I attended the event with. I was too full already but I wasn't able to resist their Pistachio Ice Cream (P105). It was a nutty and creamy ice cream pint served in a dainty tin can perfect to cap off a wonderful pizza feast.
It was a fun and fresh Friday night with Yellow Cab with great food and special treats that taught me so many things I've never heard before. Now I know why 9 is afraid of 7 and what makes Yellow Cab famous all over the globe. They serve pizzas, pastas and more selecting the finest ingredients and truly honest with the word, "all-natural".
