Bossing is not just humble. He is more than an icon.
I've just attended the grand presscon of Star Cinema and M-Zet Productions' Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! starring the Box-Office King Vic Sotto, Box-Office Queen Bea Alonzo with child wonders, Zaijan Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat, Pokwang, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Joonie Gamboa, Jon Avila, Victor Basa and others today at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN.
From the angels-inspired motif and decors that served scrumptious buffet food by Eloquente Catering Services, I joined the table with entertainment media and fellow bloggers covering the event that is quite a landmark in movie industry since Vic Sotto from Eat Bulaga of GMA-7 set foot in his last movie several years ago. According to Bossing (Vic Sotto), it was the initiative of Star Cinema to be in partnership to make this movie possible.
Here's what I've had in my plate sharing a table with other media friends.
Discussions on how the partnership was created was just starting when the cast of Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! entered the hall making everyone frenzy with their cameras. It was my first time covering a movie presscon and I was excited like the others brushing shoulders with the most famous entertainment media in the country. It was hard to get a clear view using my simple digital camera but Bossing (Vic Sotto) noticed me smiling and I was surprised to see him try to smile at my own.
I couldn't believe what just happened and I was too happy because amidst the chaos and with the popular entertainment press haggling over a shot at Bossing, he took the effort to lean back and smile at me. Then followed the live broadcast of the event in TV Patrol where Korina Sanchez interviewed them while I was standing.
He humbly promoted the movie, Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! doing his natural gags on TV and I was already laughing. When the press followed inside the Dolphy Theater, the questions on Pokwang's issue with Joey De Leon was resolved by Bossing (Vic Sotto) narrating how they did the first scene with her. I was a bit satisfied with Bossing's clever diversionary tactics trying to mislead the press about Pokwang's issue but they both answered saying Pokwang would want to guest in Eat Bulaga if her schedule permitted. I totally agree that in the showbiz industry, what should matter should be what the majority can learn from the story and not just trivial things that may blow out of proportion. Bossing was really humble acknowledging Star Cinema for the project and the support to help promote it.
The movie, Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! is a story by Eureka Tumangday and Lawrence Nicodemus directed by Tony Y. Reyes, about an angel, Angelito (Jaranilla) who was exiled from heaven and was assigned to convince Angelo (Vic sotto), a "fake" healer to convert him to be a better man. When the angel and the earthling meet, Angelo discovers that this kid has miraculous powers. So he decides to use Angelito in his "fake" healing racket. Along the way, Angelito discovers an intern doctor Cielo (Alonzo) who harbors anger over Angelo because she is so against "faith" healing business. When Angelito tries to work out a reconciliation between them, his attachment to Angelo and Cielo grows. This movie is full of twists and turns and heavy with laughing all the way, Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! opens on April 23, 2011, Black Saturday in over 100 theaters nationwide.
Pardon me and my big laughter once again but a great comedy is always great for the body and the mind so we should all patronize this movie for our own good.
