Alveo Land in the South, Treveia, Venare and Verdana Homes Mamplasan offered a taste of the Southern cuisines, unique, innovative and vibrant flavors in a lifestyle event yesterday at Sta. Rosa Laguna featuring the top chefs in the country, Chef Jackie Laudico (Bistro Filipino, Bfast), gourmet culinarian Chef Roxs Cailao (Katre), and sublime restaurateur Chef Florabel Co (Felix, Crisostomo, Sumosam, Florabel's).
The event started with a tour of the three signature developments of Alveo Land's Southside developments Verdana Homes Mamplasan, Treveia and Venare. Treveia had a plush clubhouse with pools, skating rink, luxurious amenities and facilities just like Verdana Homes Mamplasan and Venare. Each of these three properties showcases a distinctive facet of southern living anchored on a dynamic and unique living experience that highlights the developer's intent to give residents the chance to live well.
After the tour of oohs and aahs at the awesome facade of the three Alveo Land South's communities, we were treated with a Welcome Drink of Sapak Punch by Chef Jackie Laudico for Venare Nuvali. Truly "Sapak" for mixing lambanog, salabat and pakwan in a drink refreshing and sweet like the lifestyle of the residents of the said communities.
Hosted by the famous MTV VJ Shannen Torres, Mr. Anton Sanchez gave a short talk about the Alveo Land South developments before introducing the first course in the menu prepared by Chef Florabel Co-Yatco for Treveia Nuvali - an appetizer of Smoked Bangus and Salted Egg Spring Roll with Mango Salsa on Shot Glasses. Salted egg texture perfectly mixed with the taste of smoked Bangus with the Mango Salsa exploding in flavors of sweet, sour and spicy. It was so delicious that I even licked the shot glasses. Hailed as the first large-scaled residential development in the country built on the principles of modern, eco-centric design, Treveia offers a wide range of facilities revolutionizing contemporary living and lush greenery with landscaped parks, woodland groves and themed gardens that promote environmental consciousness and care for nature.
The next course on the Southern Passion Feast was the Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup with Tortilla Crisps, Tomato Brunoise, Fresh Herbs and Parmesan by Chef Roxs Cailao for Verdana Homes Mamplasan. Thick, creamy and crunchy with a slight hint of sour and sweet with tomato brunoise, the herbs made the flavors enhanced and well appreciated by all participants. The 42-hectare Verdana Homes Mamplasan situated in Biñan, Laguna offered houses and lots that let family and community enjoy life to the fulles with amenities like the Social Hall, open playing fields and picnic areas and swimming pools. What was most exciting is its proximity to commercial establishments like Alabang Town Center, the Madrigal Business Park, Paseo de Sta.Rosa and Laguna Technopark. Who wouldn't want to miss living near the the country's top schools like Brent, Caritas Don Bosco, De La Salle University-Canlubang and St. Scholastica's College Westgrove? Verdana Homes Mamplasan is indeed Alveo Land's gateway to the south.
The fourth course on the menu was the Salad of Laguna's Kesong Puti and Native Tomato Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette by Chef Florabel Co-Yatco for Treveia Nuvali. I love Kesong Puti and Tomatoes but the blend became more exciting and flavorful with the Balsamic Vinaigrette on crunchy salad greens. Like the salad, green and eco-friendly, Treveia Nuvali was designed to adhere to the tenets of sustainability highlighting Alveo Land's emphasis on environmental sustainability as a vital key to modern living.
The main course of the feast was the Navarian of Lamb with Olive Oil, Garlic and Rosemary served on a bed of Orzo Pilaf prepared by Chef Roxs Cailao for Verdana Homes Mamplasan. Quite comparable to a home-cooked caldereta, tender and melt-in-your-mouth Lamb meat accentuated with the herbs and the crunchy onion rings on a bed of filling and flavorful Orzo - a rice shaped pasta also called risoni. It was difficult to breathe after this filling and savory dish.
The last course was the Dessert of Panutsa-inspired Roasted Peanut Tart, Buko and Lambanog Chocolate Praline, Barako Tablea Flourless Cake garnished with Coconut Tuille by Chef Jackie Laudico for Venare Nuvali. I needed a kick to get me out of dozing after the courses served and the Buko and Lambanog Chocolate Praline was perfect. Chef Jackie was inspired to share some stories from her experiences in the competitions that made her concoct a dessert truly distinct of the Southern region. The Roasted Peanut Tart was unexpectedly full of flavors unlike the peanut tarts I've tried in other restaurants, crunchy and freshly-made despite the wind and cool weather at the venue.
The Southern Passion Feast featuring Alveo Land's three signature, dynamic and upscale communities, Verdana Homes Mamplasan, Treveia and Venare reminded me of my hometown in the South and the culinary feasts we enjoy as a family. It made me reflect on the lifestyle dream of living in the South respecting nature yet innovative in modern structures filled with facilities and amenities the whole family can truly enjoy.
