Review: My Rocha's Puto Kutsinta Experience at Metro Manila Young Writer's Conference (Elem Reg'l Presscon)

I've had puto and kutsinta but today I didn't imagine to have both in one yummy rice cake topped with melted cheese at Parang, Marikina. Rocha's Puto Kutsinta gaining fame through friends' referral tapped my curiosity about its texture, taste and price before judging the Radio Broadcasting of NCR today at Parang Elementary School in Marikina.
Ate Marets Dela Cuesta, school paper adviser of Sta.Lucia High School started talking about the product when we arrived at the principal's office. When DepEd NCR Supervisor, Dr. Vicky Mayo attended to offer the breakfast, everyone in the room grew curiosity more when Ate Marets shared her experience about Rocha's Puto Kutsinta from Parang, Marikina. It was heart-warming to notice how Parang Elementary School grew their "Nutri-Pan" Bakery inside the school. Teacher Sherly Ann Hernandez told us all schools in the Division of Marikina had the same ovens donated by the Rotary Club of selected areas in the United States which became their source of funds for the feeding program and other projects. Then she also started sharing how Rocha's Puto Kutsinta is gaining popularity in the city.
Then, the heavenly snack came without us noticing some of the on-lookers bothered to buy us some for breakfast while waiting for the radio broadcasting teams to convene. Hands swarmed the simple white box with a stamped mark "Rocha's Puto Kutsinta" and it disappeared in seconds. I had four pieces from the box of 50(pcs) priced at P100 and sold like hotcakes you'd have to hurry early in the market or else you'd wait the next day again.
I wasn't satisfied with just having a few of the heavenly puto't kutsinta so we asked someone among the group to buy us two boxes each for pasalubong. Joined by veteran radio announcer, Mr. Melo Acuña of the Catholic Bishops of the Philippines online radio program and 3 other media practitioners, Ate Marets and I started working with the radio broadcast teams of each division from Metro Manila. During the break-out sessions on judging the scripts written by each teams, Mr. Melo Acuña and friends were introduced to Rocha's Puto Kutsinta. I had to offer one of my boxes since they all wanted the famous puto't kutsinta. As expected, they wanted boxes of their own but it was already late in the afternoon and all stocks were gone at the market and at the factory outlet of the said product.
I have yet to explore the story of the makers of the product and I've yet to shop for more of Rocha's Puto Kutsinta like all my co-judges who also had a wonderful time selecting the best teams of the NCR Region for radio broadcasting contest.

I will definitely be back for more boxes of Rocha's Puto Kutsinta next week when I can.
