Love and loving what you do. It was more of Kierwin Larena. My students excitement over Philippine Stagers Foundation's Kierwin Larena brought me to watch the "4-C II"- four contemporary plays in one, second part. I have watched many plays staged by PSF and Atty. Vincent Tañada in the previous years and I've noticed the biggest improvement after bagging awards from Aliw Awards and other award-winning bodies.
When many have criticized plays for public schools, I've just kept silent and observed since what the student need and their interest is of utmost importance than those blabbing and not participating to help make learning more appreciated. The four contemporary plays, Fan reminiscing childhood's joy and fun in flirting , Romeo Loves Juliet - Facebook and its hazards on teen love, Judas Lair, tragedy on love for family and love for country and Felipa -horrifying love story of a Spaniard and a possessed Filipina during the Spanish colonization made everyone laugh, cry, relate and scared. "Fan" reminded me of how I daydreamed of Johnny Depp in 21 Jumpstreet in the 80's. "Romeo Loves Juliet" reminded me of how silly and non-wittingly comments on Facebook pop-up at my students' wall everyday. "Judas Lair" made me love Atty. Vince Tañada's call for nationalism and "Felipa" made me want to be a Spanish meztiza in "terno".
I'd like to believe that any theater production wouldn't get patronage from public schools unless they have captivated the whole system with perfection and great performance. The Philippine Stagers Foundation had not only gotten the public schools' hearts but the whole nation as well being acclaimed at their performance and production of "I am Ninoy" last year. It led them to stage the play in other countries being one of the most effective and best stage group. What's most commending about the "4-C" was their short and creative introduction of each play and their creative continuity scenes to provide fluid transition from one play to the next. The perfectionist attitude exuded by each actor was shown in each facial expression, strut and dance in each minute of the show. Compared to the previous year's performance and production, they have really improved and made the stage plays for public schools truly commendable and more than the cost.
Hats off to Atty. Vincent Tañada and the PSF for another outstanding performance of "4-C"! Hats off to Kierwin Larena for captivating the hearts of the teens of Lagro High School! Hats off to the students who paid attention and observed stage rules and discipline! I can't wait for the next stage play conducted by PSF!
